Barker: A Tradition Of Fine Shoes
In 1880, Barker England was founded by Arthur Barker. His vision was to create some of the finest shoes in Northamptonshire, to which end he succeeded.
Today, Barker shoes continue to use the same time-honoured manufacturing skills and processes which have established Barker as one of the worlds premium shoemaking brands. It takes over 200 operations to make a Barker Goodyear welted shoe in a process which takes approximately eight weeks to complete. This acts as a reassuring mark of quality in a world where pace is ever increasing.
Barker shoes are water resistant and will insulate the feet against extreme temperatures - making them equally comfortable to wear in hot or cold weather conditions.
The construction of the shoes also ensures that the soles are flexible and lightweight, which is achieved by the cemented bonding process of the soles to the edge of the shoes.
